Observability is not more dashboards
A wall of charts can conceal that nobody knows which customer promise is currently at risk.

Abstract
Useful observability connects system behavior to service obligations and gives operators a path from symptom to decision. Volume without ownership creates noise.
Start with the promise
Telemetry has value when it reveals which customer promise is at risk and gives an operator a path from symptom to action.
Signal design
Pick three critical journeys. Define service indicators, freshness, trace correlation, an alert threshold, named responder and the first diagnostic action for each.
Evidence to retain
Delete or demote charts that do not support a decision, investigation or obligation.
Challenge the conclusion
Exploratory dashboards remain useful. They should support investigation, not substitute for an operating model.
Use this in a working session
Start from a breached customer promise and work backward to the earliest useful signal. Remove any alert with no response.
